Atticus is...
By: Gustavo Guzman

Atticus is a gentleman
He's a good boy,
A nigger lover
Deadest shot in Maycomb
know when to use a gun

Atticus is
A Mockingbird
It's a sin to kill a mockingbird

this is
real courage
Atticus is
real courage

courage is a man
It's when you know you're licked before you begin
but you begin anyway

this is
real courage
Atticus is
real courage

Atticus is
a mockingbird
and
It's a sin to kill a Mockingbird

"To Kill A Mocking Bird" By:Harper Lee/ Alter Egos and Foils

Title: To Kill A Mockingbird
By:Harper Lee

Prompt: Characters who reflect aspects of Scout's own character are known as alter egos. Those who are sharply different serve as foils. A careful study of these character relationships help to show the network of personalities in Maycomb and how they shape Scout's life.

This month my class has been reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" by: Harper Lee it has been a great experience reading this book. Normally I wouldn't pick a book like this but it has taught me to be peaceful but also to be a gentlemen. I learned this from Aunt Alexandra and Atticus, they have many things uncommon ideas but also many common ideas. Aunt Alexandra is not liked by Jem and Scout mainly because when she first got there she told them "We decided that it would be best for you to have some feminine influence. ". The problem was they thought that Calpurnia ( The maid) was a good enough feminine figure. She is also different from Atticus because she has Maycombs usual disease (to have racial thoughts)  but Atticus doesn't have the usual disease. We know this because he is fighting for Tom Robinson even though he is of colored race. Lastly they are different because of the way they treat more needy people. Atticus will help the more needy if they need his help even if he will only get paid in food. Aunt Alexandra doesn't want Scout or Jem to play with Walter because he is really poor and they should be see hanging around him. "She took off her glasses and stared at me. "I'll tell you why," she said. "Because—he—is—trash, that's why you can't play with him. I'll not have you around him, picking up his habits and learning Lord-knows-what."On the other hand Atticus belives everyone is the same.

Aunt Alexandra and Atticus are almost completely different from each  other but they are also very similar. Aunt Alexandra moved to Maycomb to be with the family so she could be a feminine figure for scout and also so she could help them out. This tells me that she moved for the better of the family , Atticus also has taking care of the Jem and Scout in his mind. He has been there as there father but he has also been there to teach them a little bit about life and how to get through it. This tells me they are similar because they both want the best for Jem an Scout whether its to be a father figure or a mother figure. They are also similar because they both want to uphold the family name just in different ways. Atticus wants to do it by doing what he believes is right and believing people will follow in his foot steps. Aunt Alexandra on the other hand wants the family to act like a gentlemen and lady like. Even if it means hurting other people that Jem and Scout are good friends with.

Aunt Alexandra and Atticus have different relationships with Scout. Aunt Alexandra is a foil there are an enormous amount of reasons why she is a foil. One of the reasons she is a foil is because she is a very well dressed and popular woman. Scout is completely the opposite, scout is a person who dresses how ever she likes whether people like it or not. She also is not that popular because she doesn't usually talk to new people but she speaks out for others. The second reason how she is a foil is because she is a very demanding person she would like things to go her way. Scout is different then her though she is more lenient and believes in being free. This brings us to Atticus the alter ego, I mainly believe he is the alter ego because of three connections I made with them. First Atticus and Scout both like to read from reading Atticus and Scout get to bond more especially since in Scouts grade they can read together. Second Atticus has taught hear to love others and care for others even if they aren't the same race. " . . If I didn't take this case then I wouldn't be able to hold my head up, I wouldn't be about to tell anyone what to do, not even you and Jem.". This tells me that scout knows just how to act and not to catch Maycombs disease. Lastly Atticus has just influenced  Scout in a way that will help her in life and help her be more equal to others.

Why Does it look like Maycomb, Alabama?

Alabama

Observation: First of all I see the houses one of the houses has a dirt ground but the other seems like it has grass. I see the side walk and to kids playing by it which both seem to be white. A car parked in front of one also the trees which have been a big part in to kill a mockingbird. Lastly i see screens on the doors and in the back a little shed.

Inferences: From the picture I got a lot of inferences first the two kids playing seem to be riding some toy of theres which tells me that they must be a little older then 4. From the houses I could tell they don't have much grass which tells me that maybe grass cant survive there. On the other house I see a little grass which tells e that it is a little more taken care of. The car parked in front of the house tells me that t the people that have the car may have more money because cars cost a little more money. I also see the trees but the leaves seem to have fallen so this tells me it is fall. Lastly the shed in the back tells me that there might be tools to help the the ground.

Questions: Is the street pavement? Why are the screens of the doors closed are they sick? What are the kids playing?

Could it be Maycomb County, Alabama?

I believe it could be Maycomb County because there are trees and there may be one with a knot in it. There are also houses and one of them could be Scouts because of the ground the other could be Miss Atkinson. It could be hers because of the ground it looks more well kept. There are also screens on the doors so this tells me that they may have it pen when they aren't sick. Lastly there are kids playing outside and they may play the same games as Scout and Je
m.

FableHaven Ending

FableHaven:Rise of the Evening Star
By:Brandon Mull
11/20/14
Pages:0-600
Prompt: Do you like what you’re reading? Why or why not?

I like what I read what I read this week is the second best book I have read this year. I would rate this book second because it has all of the main genres I like. It has action, adventure, mystery, and suspense. Action and adventure are a main part in this book they aren't manly used in a certain part though. Action and Adventure follow one of the main characters Seth. They follow him in the end when he escapes a Demon that had Swallowed him whole ,but some how he survived. Throughout the book though it followed him especially when he got tricked by people to do many things that he would later find out where bad. These characters to advantage of Seth because he had so much courage and the many things that the characters would ant to get where unreachable to them. This is just one of the genres.

The next genre that was in the book, that made this book be one of the best I have read is mystery. Mystery doesn't follow seth that much because he always knows what is going on. Mystery follows Kendra, it falls Kendra because in the last book she got kissed by many fairies. Since they kissed Kendra they shared a bit of there power with her. After that Kendra has been trying to figure out why she can do so many things. She is also trying to kind out what other things she can do.

The last genre this book fits into that makes it a really good books is Suspense. Suspense is a big part in this though I have to say sometimes they made it way to long. In this parts it made you less eager to find out then how you where in the beginning. In this book near the end they used it when Seth and Kendra where both figuring out there problems. They would devele
p the suspense when they would get closer and closer.

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star

Title: Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star
Author: Brandon Mull
Pages:200-250
Week: 11/10/14
Prompt: 2- Analyze how dialogue or specific incidents reveal information about characters. Make sure to include textual evidence

* Tanu *
This week I did not read a lot but in those few pages I got a bunch of information. We got introduced to some new and very important characters. In fact we got introduced to 4 new characters in 50 pages! These new characters include Vanessa (a collector of magical animals), Tanu (a potion maker), and Coulter (a collector of magical artifacts). The fourth one is one of the most important person in all of the magical preserves The Sphinx. The Sphinx is a magical creature that can live for a long time and has used his knowledge to help all the magical preserves and to stop the Society of the Evening Star. In these pages we learned who he was and how he helped Seth and Kendra our main character. He helped Kendra find out that she was Fairykind and has all the magical powers that the fairies have. He helped Seth with his bite mark from a Demon that wants to eat him up so he can be a free demon. In this blog I will talk about specific incidents that revealed more on our new characters.

The first character I will be talking about is Vanessa, Vanessa was the first one introduced to us. Right in the beginning they revealed to us something about Vanessa's character. When Vanessa first went to go pick up Kendra and Seth to save then from Errol (part of the Society of the Evening Star) She went in a sports car that was custom made for her. This tells us that she is flamboyant and along with her car she went dressed like a "supermodel" (said Kendra). All of this tells us that she is showy and likes to be the center of attention. The second character I will be talking about is Tanu, Tanu is a potion master as I already stated. We learn a little bit of Tanu when we meet him and he shows Kendra about some basic potions. In the potion presentation Tanu talks about his life while concocting a potion. in this potion there is anger and there is shame and humiliation. Seth limitedly said he wanted anger but Tanu asks if he is positive because anger is a strong feeling. From this we learn that Tanu is cautious but later we also learn he likes a good laugh to. Third person is Coulter in his presentation we learn that he is very diligent. He ranted on and on about his collection but in the beginning he eves dropped on Seth and Kendra. He over heard about them talking about the Sphinx while where a gloved that rendered him invisible. From this we learned that he eves drop probably when working and cares about his collection.

Lastly we will talk about the Sphinx, the sphinx is a very important character and I believe we will see him in many other books. We learned that he knows how to gain people confidence and how to lower there confidence to try to get them to believe in him. We learned that he knows how to gain confidence when he let Kendra beat him a foosball and that let her be more confident. When he went against seth he lowered his confidence by beating him at it but after he told him what he did to his sister. After though he got them comfortable by treating them to a drink and solving there problems. Overall There is a lot of events that show each characters personality in this book.

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star

Title: Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star
Author:Brandon Mull
Date: 11/3/14
Pages:100-200
Prompt: List five major events in order from which happened first to last.

In this book there have been many major events since the beginning to where I am now. The first major event that happened in the book that I have already informed you about in the recent blogs. To recap, In the beginning of the book Seth and Kendra got in a predicament with a kobold. They solved this problem with a suppose friend of a friend, of their grandpa. I don't want to go further into detail, I want you to find out. The second problem they get into is when Errol (the friend of a friend of there grandpa) tells Kendra and Seth he has another mission he could have them help him with. Then later Kendra gets in touch with there Grandpa to confirm that Errol is actually not a friend at all. That he is part of the evening star and using them to get the hidden artifacts they need.

The next problems that they faced that you have not found out are way more problematic then the others. After Kendra got the information from there grandpa, Errol called to see if they where going to go with him to help him with his problem. Kendra new though that he was not there friend, in fact he was part of the Evening Star. Here the problem is she doesn't know what to do until a car beeps out side and it really is a friend of there grandpa. The next problem is really cool the problem they had was while they where leaving they meet up whit errol and a little buddy of his or should I say big buddy.(as seen on the right) They got ambushed once they where out of sight from there parents.

The last problem they faced so far was that when they got to Fablehaven there where men every where. Later there grandpa came out in a cast and in a wheel chair because he got in a car accident that he believes was provoked by the evening star. The men where there as in extra precaution to the evening satr knowing there identity. Overall this is a really good book as was the other one.

Narrative project

3- Imagine that it is fifty years after Montresor's crime against Fortunato has been committed. Montresor believes that he has gotten away with this crime, but suddenly new evidence has come to light. Another festival attendant recalls seeing Fortunato leave the party with Montresor. This witness hasn't come forward until now because she was afraid of what he might do; however now that she is old, she has decided that there is nothing to gain by continuing to hide his secret.

The authorities have picked up Montresor and brought him to the local police station for questioning. Write a one page dialogue that illustrates Montresor's conversation with police.

Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star 10/26/14

Title: Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star
Author:Brandon Mull
Date: 10/26/14
Pages:60- 100
Prompt: Do you like what you’re reading? Why or why not?

Do I like what I am reading? This is a question that everyone should ask themselves when they are reading a book. I personally ask my self this question all the time in the beginning of each book. Once I find out if I would like this book in the beginning of the book. I still keep on reading to find out if I really do. I do this because once in a while you find a book that is bad in the beginning but ends up being good. Overall the book that I am reading, I am reading as a part of a series and it is in amazing book so far.

I like what I am reading a lot it is full of action, mystery, and the best of all fantasy. In the book action is involved in every part of it. There are parts where the main characters are fighting of demons, creatures, and other human beings. Mystery is mainly used with Seth (one of the main characters) Seth is a very adventures fellow and with every adventure there is a mystery that he is planning to solve. Lastly fantasy, fantasy is used throughout the whole book. Every problem that the main characters have involve fantasy in some way either they are using magic or there are mythical creatures, but fantasy is used throughout the whole book. Fantasy is the main reason why are started this series, so if you are into fantasy checkout this series.

Throughout the book I have come to like this book. In the beginning of the book it had a rough start as I was saying before some books start out bad but they progressively get better. In this book this is exactly how it started so if I where to say I didn't like this book in the beginning. After a little though it got better, so I believe I will read the next book in the series. In the end I have started to like this book.

FableHaven 10/20/14

Title: FableHaven
Author: Brandon Mull
Pages: 0-60
Prompt: Predict what will happen next

What do I think will happen next you ask? What I think will happen next will be from the first book to the second. In the first book they set the stage for Fablehaven and described most of the main characters of the series. If you would pay attention to the first book you would be able to find the hints that talk about what the plot for the second book will be. I found that the plot for the second book will be talking about the Society of the Evening Star. The Society of the Evening Star is a society that would find the hidden sanctuaries for mythical animals. When they would find them they would steal the artifacts that keep all the creatures in the sanctuary, so then the animals could roam free.

My complete prediction of what the plot of the book is going to be like starts with, first the Society of the Evening Star is going to infiltrate FableHaven. I believe that the Society will infiltrate them with someone that they hold close to them that has been to Fablehaven before. Next they would find out where the artifact is by having that person gain there trust then gain knowledge to where the artifact is. Lastly I believe that they will try to steal it but the people of Fablehaven will find out and destroy there plan.

Overall I believe that the plot of the book will be well written and will have a great ending. I really liked the first book so I believe that by the end of my forty book challenge I will have read the whole series. This book brings me 4/40 into my forty book challenge.

Quarter 1 :Reflection 8/18/14 - 10/17/14

Gustavo Guzman
10/17/14

How have your blogs been progressing since August?
My blogs have progressed greatly since August I have come to understand it more and the new objectives. The new objectives give me a reason to not just read the book for fun but to have a purpose instead of just picking what ever in the end. I was rough in the beginning but i am starting to smooth out my mistakes with my teacher.

What strategies have benefited you?

The strategies that have benefited me in Blogging are many there are two that I use most often and sometimes together. One is I check on other peoples blogs and see what they have written in there blog to try and get the them of the blog for this week. After doing that I have better knowledge on what I am doing so I start my blog. The second strategy I use is talk about the book in the beginning so I can recap about what I read. This helps my readers and me to understand the blog more. After I just answer the question given to talk abut the book.

Where are you in your 40 Book Challenge?

Over the summer till now I have started to actually like reading. I read on a daily basis if I don't read at least one chapter a day I feel like I have read nothing. Over the summer I beat the forty book challenge so this year I am aiming for 60 books its a big challenge but in the breaks I read a lot because I usually have nothing to do. For this year I have read about 5 books already and thats a pretty good number because I have many sports that I do during the day.

What have you learned about the world?

The world is a fascinating place especially now you can be in one place and learn about news in multiply other places. With technology you can explore the world without even actually moving around much. What I have learned about the world so far is that well the world is growing in good and bad ways. I have learned about Ebola the deadly Ebola virus that is killing many people and is becoming a global thing. I have also learned about ISIS threats on America and how they might be in the U.S.A. There aren't just bad things in the world thought there are also good things in the world like. The Nobel peace prize and how it was awarded to Malala the girl who is fighting for girls to go to school and Kailash Satyarthi a children's right activist in India.

How have your research skills improved?

My research skills have improved so much this year with citing your sources and having to find your own sources I have learned how to find things quick and efficiently. If you were to give me a piece of information and you wanted me to find a more explicit version of it give me 60 seconds tops. Your probably asking how I got this good well there are three main reasons. Number one is just basically listening to my teacher and fixing what she tells me is wrong or can be made better. Number two is learning form my own mistakes and experience and the last one is learning form others mistakes, which I do a lot.

The City Of Bones/ Late

Title:City of Bones
Author:Cassandra Clair
Date:09/18/14
Pages:169-end
Prompt: List the main characters

The main characters of the book are Clary , Jace and Valentine. Jace I believe is the third main character. Jace full name is Jace Herondale his guardian is Valentine a ruthless Shadow hunter that fights for the opposite side(against Downworlders side). Jace was raised by Valentine through his younger years until Valentine choose the opposite side. After that Jace meet his biological parents Celine and Stephen Herondale. Currently Jace is not with either of them he is with his uncles family(also shadow hunters) in the New York City institute. The reason Jace is the second main character is because he has been there since the beginning either protecting Clary (1st main character) or just knowing her. Overall he is the main character because he is there since the beginning of the book and he is one of the best Shadowhunters in the world.

The second main character is Valentine the shadowhunter. Valentines full name is Valentine Morgenstern he is the father of Clary (1 main character) and Sebastian Morgenstern. He was married to Clary
Frays mother Jocelyn Fray. Valentine created a secret society (well not really secret but secret form humans) called the Circle of Raziel. The Circle of Raziel is a group of people with a common goal to exterminate Downworlders. He wants to exterminate Downworlders because a Downworlder killed his father and so Valentine is exacting revenge by trying to take them out. The problem is that the shadowhunter society is trying to create peace with the downworlders so there shadowhunters wont always have to fight with them. In the end Valentine is most likely not to succeed because its basically wiping out a whole entire species.

The last and most important character is Clary the mundane/shadowhunter. Clary is a mundane because well she lived like that for years but she is also a shadowhunter because she can do everything they do and better. Clary i believe is the most important character in the whole book. We get to become shadowhunters with her we may not see it through her eyes but the narrator is always with her and telling us what she sees and feels. That really surprised me because usually they don't tell us there feelings unless its first person. This whole was like a roller coaster it was good but then there was dull parts but then after the dull part there was action.

A Child Called "It"

Title: A Child Called "It"
Author:Dave Pelzer
Pages:0-40
Week:10/5/14
Prompt:Writing Techniques (Mood)

The writing techniques that the author uses helps to change the readers feeling on the book to create a more dramatic or different atmosphere, this technique is called mood. In the story this is shown in countless occasions. In this book it talks about Dave Pelzers struggle in life, he endured physical abuse for many years from his mother who thought of it as a game. He would be teased in school because his mother would like to humiliate him in every possible way.  Making him wear shirts and shorts that should have been thrown to the trash years ago. She would make him lunch with leftover food that not even the dog would eat. He wouldn't get to eat everyday he would get to eat only when his mother let him eat the leftover scraps. This is just the beginning of Davids horrible start in life.

In this book "A Child Called"IT""  the mood has a big impact the story greatly. Without mood you would be emotionless throughout the story. This story is full of emotions very sad emotions especially. A few moments where I felt really bad , a moment that you would need emotions to actually get it. "“You’ve made my life a living hell!” she sneered. “Now it’s  time I showed you what hell is like!” Gripping my arm, Mother  held it in the orange blue flame. My skin seemed to explode from the heat. I could smell the scorched hairs from my burnt arm.". This part was very emotional you wouldn't imagine a mother burning her own sons hand. If you didn't have mood you wouldn't have any thoughts about this or even any feelings. Overall Mood is important because this book is all about emotion and understanding how the author felt through it.

Another part where I thought that mood was incorporated. Was when Davids mother made him eat his own barf This book is has one of the best starting and hope also to have a good ending. "I sat on a chair and picked the clumps of hot dogs out of the  bowl with my hand. Globs of thick saliva slipped through my  fingers, as I dropped it in my mouth. As I tried to swallow, I began to whimper.". This shows that the mood in the story is sad because davids mother mad him eat his barf. What this made me feel was disgust but also I felt bad for David because
he had to eat it.

Reflective blog

My Reflection Blog
By: Gustavo Guzman

Since the beginning of 7th grade I have started blogging. Blogging has become one of the things I am hoping to do. Once in a while I don't have time so I do it over the weekend and I enjoy it I enjoying letting people know about the book. In the beginning of my blogging years I was a bit rough on the edges ,well more like a lot. My first blog was basically just rants about the book I talked about what ever came to mind. They didn't connect at all I would talk about the main characters conflict then i would automatically, with no transition. This I feel I have been struggling through I am starting to get the hang of blogs now though.

My recent blogs have been long and have had thorough explanations on my books. My strategy which I like best is to inform the reader about my book in the first paragraph. Then to answer the prompt in the next two. The last one is kind of a mix of ending the question and giving my own thoughts. Overall over the years I believe I have improved. I may still have some parts where it isn't that great I also have parts that are amazing.

Over the years my blogging has started to improve. I still may have grammar issues and other kid of issues but slowly the issues have started to decrease . I believe if I keep on doing what i'm doing I will keep improving.  Thanks for reading.

Blog 9/11/14

Title: City of bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Pages: 0-169
Prompt: How does it show imagery and what type of figurative language does this book use.

The City of bones is a book that I have had the chance to love it the deeper i get into it. This is an amazing book that should be ready by all young adults. It's full of action ,adventure and magic the best books always have magic. In this book they don't like to be called wizards or witches because they aren't thats not what they do. They are shadow hunters said to be descendants of angels and demons. What the shadow hunters do is fight the demons and try to protect the mundanes(humans) from there attacks on earth. In this book there have been numerous battles where Clary is trying to find her mother with the help of Jace. On there way to find clues they are meet with terrible battles that have broken there legs and arms. To find out more and how they survive read this book.

In the story I have found many types of imagery which is good because i am only in the beginning of the story. In this book imagery is an important part of this book in the 2 second chapter they use imagery to describe the Demon that is attacking Clary. "It was crouched against the floor , a long , scaled creature with a cluster of flat black eyes set dead center in the front of its domed skull. Something like a cross between an alligator and a centipede, it had a thick , flat snout and a barbed tail that whipped menacing from side to side. Multiple legs bunched underneath it as it readied it self to spring." this is a perfect example for me of imagery it tells us about how the Demon looked and how it readied it self to spring at Clary. This also uses figurative language the type it uses is a simile " Something like a cross between an alligator and a centipede"this uses the word like to describe how the body of the demon looks.

In another parts of the book there is imagery and figurative language another example would be. "He ducked, and it thunked heavily into the banister, biting deep." This is onomatopoeia and personification becasue it uses biting and its giving it to the axe. It also uses thunk to tell the sound it made. The second example of imagery is "Looming over him like a giant in a fairy tale was an enormous man, big around as an oak tree, a broad bladed axe clutched in one gigantic dead-white hand. Tattered filthy rags hung over his grimy skin, and his hair was a single matted tangle , thick with dirt." This type of imagery tells me about how the forsakens look (forsakens- people that grow to enormous sizes after they die).

Top Ten Of My Life

1. Fablehaven Series
The Fablehaven series is one of the best series I have ever read this is one of my favorite books because it showed me to adventure beyond the rules. To solve mysteries even it they seem impossible or unreal. It showed me basically that you can go beyond what is expected of you and even y your self you can make a bigger difference then a group of people. Lastly this book is just an amazing book that anybody can read.

2.Flat Stanley
This book is one of my favorites simple because it was the first chapter book I read. I don't remember much but the best part of the book was when he sent himself in the mail instead of going on an airplane. I remember sitting at the back of the class only five minutes in then class and I was finished with the book. It was the fastest book I ever read and one of the best.

3.City of Bones
I am reading city of bones right now but so far its one of the best books I have read. City of bones is about the Shadow-hunters the Shadow-hunters dedicate there lives to fighting demons. Some people say that Shadow hunters are decedents of angels and demons. The best part of the book so far is when they see the Forgottens which are like henchmen but dead. This is the best part because it was the first big fight in the book where they fight a big forgotten man will looking for clues and assets.

4.Harry Potter Series
The Harry Potter series was just one of the best series in my life. They did teach me many things but the main reason that I like this book is because it was just amazing. It showed me many different things some real some bad but the main thing it showed me was how to deal with people good or bad. Overall this book was just amazing it had everything a book could have.

5.Artemis Fowl Series

This series is listed on here not because it was the best but because it was the worst. I didn't get this series at all it was just bad. I have talked to many people and many of them say it was a really good series but for me it was just the worst I didn't like how most of everything about the book was technology and fantasy mashed up to create Artemis fowl. To me this book was kind of a horrible version of Spiderwick . It was just bad I think you should read it just to see if you like it but for me since the first page it was horrible. (I think I might give it another chance to)

6.Wonder

Wonder is one of the best books in the world it is a book of emotions. The first weeks of 7th grade we started to read this book as a class. The thing that interested me and my classmates the most is that the boy was different. Throughout the whole book we got clues of how he looked. We learned of how he lived how people judged him and the phases in life that he went through. It was just simple very interesting looking through the eyes of  someone different.

7.Magic Tree House Series

The Magic tree house series is just a series for little kids and to this day if I find one I haven't read I'll pick it up and start reading it. I believe everyone in america has read at least one or seen one of the magic tree house books. These books are just so world wide that everyone has seen one. I believe that even if you get older this series will always teach you something.

8.Rainbow Fish

Rainbow fish is a book that all the teachers would read at my elementary school. It would be a book to do projects on and to teach kids a life lesson. I can remember what we would do but my whole family has read it . Its just important because it has been in our family as the first book they would read in first grade.

9.The little engine that could
The little engine that could is a book that teaches a major life lesson. The life lesson that is shown in this book is to never give up. This book was read to us when I was really little and from then one we have never given up. The second lesson taught in this book is to ask for help. Many people think that asking for help is a sign of weakness but in this book it shows that its sometimes the only thing you could do.

10.I'll Teach My Dog 100 Words

I'll teach my dog 100 words is just a really entertaining book . This book is a book that our family read to our dog to try to teach him to speak. We probably read it 100 times but it never worked like we wanted to. Overall this was just an amazing book.
