The Secrets of the Fortune Wookie

Title: The Secrets Of The Fortune Wookie (3rd book)
Author:Tom Angleberger
Pages:1- 190
Week:4/1/14
Prompt: Who is the most important character to you? Why?

I am stuck in between with the most important characters. I am stuck in between with 3 characters Dwight, Tommy, and Harvey. Harvey , Dwight ,and Tommy have been there since the first book (Case file). Harvey is the enemy he is the obnoxious kid in the class that tries to fit in but cant. Tommy is basically the narrator but also a very key part of the book with out him there wouldn't be a book. Lastly Dwight , Dwight is also equally important because without Dwight there would be no case files just like it says in the beginning of the book. "How can we have a case file(-a mystery or a book) with out Dwight?"

I picked Harvey as one of the important characters because he has always tried to mess up what Dwight and origami Yoda are doing. Harvey made a little Darth Vader and called it Darth Paper in book two and after that he has been a villain in the book. In this book though he actually solved a mystery. The mystery of the Fortune Wookie. The Fortune Wookie is a trick made up by a group of girl to basically get people to do things but also give advice that will actually help them. They said that Dwight the master of Yoda and also good advice tossed the girls origami Wookie. Later when tommy went to Dwight's house he learned that Dwight's windows where nailed shut because his mom thought he would fall out the window. Then Harvey learned that there are only 8 sides to a fortune teller. After he learned that ,he went to Sara(The one with the fortune wookie) and asked her the ninth question and found out that Sara was the one telling the advice and that was the end of the Fortune Wookie.

Second I picked Tommy because Tommy is the narrator he is basically telling the story but everyone is to they all have there little parts. Tommy talks about all the things that is happening in school and how he helps to figure things out for everyone else on his free time. He is also the one that first started talking to Dwight. After a while Tommy started to make this case file which talks about how they find a question and start getting clues on it and figuring out the answer. Till they do find the answer and ends the book. Lastly Dwight he has been there since the beginning in this book he int really in it but yet everything that happens revolves around him. In this book the main part about him is near the end which really gets me to read the next book. The last line in the book is his and it says (in Yoda voice) "Yes at McQuarrie we belong(origami Yoda and Dwight). Return we must. Need us you will... all of you. A great battle ahead we sense . With
Rabbski (Principle of the school that doesnt like the kids).

5D's YU-GI-OH

Title: 5D's Yu-Gi-Oh (Volume 2)
Author: Shonenjump Manga
Pages: 1-200
Week: 04/20/14
Prompt: Do you like what you’re reading? Why or why not?

This book has many different and amazing parts to it. It is not separated by chapters thought it is separated by different duels. These duels are fought with special cards the cards can have monsters, spells , and trap cards. These cards come to life and fight each other will there masters the duel runners use there motorcycles to drive around a course. The duel runners are many different people from many different cultures but they meet up at one single place to see who is the best at what they do. They are the generals of there army. They fight each others with there monsters, spells ,and trap cards who ever is left standing by the end of there duels is the winner.

Overall I like what I am reading for three main reasons. One this book is full of action there is always a fight going on somewhere in the book. In the beginning the main character Yusei Fudo fights a man named Greiger they both entered the contest because who ever wins goes against the ruling champion Jake Atlas. They both have there sights set on having a rematch versus him. The game is all set on who ever brings the enemy to zero life points, destroys there duel runner, or passes the finish line first. In this duel against each other the winner ends up being Yusei Fudo because of all his synchro cards(Synchro cards- More than one card put together to form a different more powerful card).

Second I like this book because of how it escapes reality and goes into a virtual world. I like this because in the book it kind of goes into the future. With all of there motorcycle they aren't like the ones we have know there more techie and silver(we all know silver is future). Lastly I like this book because of the drama in it. In the book when Yusei was about to die his girlfriend Akiza used her psych
powers to throw the biker off of his bike.

The Lemonade War

Title: The Lemonade War
Author: Jacqueline Davies
Pages: 1- 192
Week: 04/14/14
Prompt: Select a quote from your reading that you liked. What made you pick it? How
does it make you pause and think?

In the book The Lemonade War I have learned my emotions have varied first in the beginning of the book I felt like the book was okay. Later as I got into it I started to find out what was going on and the book got more interesting. Especially when the war started and the tips started to pile up. Of all of the quotes that are in this book I have found four that I would like to share with you. If you are in the summer and you have nothing to do but bask in the scorching hot sun this is for you. Have you ever wanted money in the summer? Do you feel like you want something then this book will help you learn the basics of selling lots and lots of lemonade from 10¢,50¢, $1, and even up to $2.

"Tip 1: Location It all starts on where you put your lemonade stand "

This is very important where you put your lemonade stand is kind of how much money you make. If you put your lemonade stand in the middle of the woods who's going to see it besides you local deer. You need to pic a spot where you know a lot of people with money pass by but if you pick a public place like in front of the city hall you have to pay a fin. You have to pick a spot where theres a lot of people but that the police wont say anything about it. In the book the main characters Jessie and Evan made a lot of money by picking a corner by a park on really hot days and they got $25 each.

"Tip 2: Advertisement Make your lemons stand out of the crowd "

By making your lemons stand out of the crowd they mean put some music or put something that makes it pop. In the book Megan and Jessie the girls team put music and balloons and made people want to go to there lemonade stand because of how they made the place kind of like a hangout.

"Tip 3: Going Mobile Take your lemons on the rode"

I picked this one because in the book the boys team (Evan) rode around on his bike with a wagon with the lemonade behind him. He was selling it for $1 dollar and he was going to make $245 dollars minus $64 of expenses. Till his sister who was on the opposite team put so many bugs and dirt in his lemonade and all that money was lost. Overall this tip can help you to make a lot of money just by going around on a hot day with lemonade and a sign.

"Tip 4: Employee Appreciation Don't be a sour boss- always say thank you to your workers"

There is an amazing thing that they did in the book. What the girl team did (Megan and Jessie) was they called all there friend and asked them to have a lemonade stand. They would supply them and ask for 2/3 of what they make. Then they would give them a thank you present so there would be any hard feelings. This was a great Idea because they both won $104 dollars. Which got jessie in the lead by one dollar.

I recommend this book to anybody who doesn't
have anything to do over the summer and who likes to read realistic fiction.

P.S What Happens in the end is mind blowing.

Harry Houdini

Title: Harry Houdini/ Young Magician
By: Kathryn Kilby Borland and Helen Ross Speicher
Week: 04/07/14
Prompt:Draw a picture for what you just read.

In this book it shows the beginning and the end of Harry Houdini's career. All of Harry Houdini's acts and magic acts that inspired the world of magic are in this book. Harry Houdini was a very interesting man he wasn't really scared of danger he knew how to get out of all his tricks. How to act like he was in trouble but there where certain point where people thought he was actual a crazy man with his career. He has had times where he almost died but he wasn't scared because he liked his career. Till one day he could handle it anymore and just didn't make it through one of his tricks.

I drew this picture because it shows how Houdini died it shows how his tricks helped to kill him but when he was on the show he had a fever of 104 and back then they didn't have good medicine for the Peritonitis(Peritonitis-an infection of the peritoneum). His last show before he died was the water torture cell.

Batman Knightfall

Title:Batman Knightfall
Date:03/30/14
Pages:1-611
Prompt: List five major events in order from which happened first to last.

The first major event that happened in the story was that Bane (a young child born in a prison) destroyed Arkham Asylum and let all the lunatics in the asylum out. Which lead to the rampaging destruction of maniacs. Bane wasn't after any of the manics in the asylum, he was after the big prize Batman. First Bane had to weaken Batman because he knew batman would take him down even with his venom (super steroids). Batman faced many struggles firefly, common cold, Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, Scarecrow. The time he got to Bane half his body shut down.

The second major event is the fight with Bane. Bane is a ruthless fighter in the worst prison in Gotham City. He learned the way of nature all alone in the pit of death where he was assigned too for killing a man at age 7. The fight with bane for batman was the most horrible loss and the only loss of his life. He was broken paralyzed for the first time in his life he was not the protector of Gotham anymore he had to hand on the role for even awhile. The third major event was when Bruce Wayne(Batman) gave the role to Jean Paul( was train by batman but not to become Robin). While Jean Paul had the role as batman he turned into a menace. He was nothing like batman had thought he would be he strike fear into people ,the fear of Death not of Batman. Jean Paul thought that he was better than Batman and went after Bane by himself.

The fourth major event was the new batman versus Bane. Jean Paul(New Batman) went after Bane thinking with his new gadgets he could beat him and be better than the real batman. He thought wrong he got hurt like an egg falling from a tree. He was no use to anybody anymore luckily batman was back in action. Even better than he use to be with his newly built armor that let him move even with his broken back. The fifth major event was the start of batman new suit and his new life as Bruce Wayne in the wheelchair.
