Title: City of bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Pages: 0-169
Prompt: How does it show imagery and what type of figurative language does this book use.

The City of bones is a book that I have had the chance to love it the deeper i get into it. This is an amazing book that should be ready by all young adults. It's full of action ,adventure and magic the best books always have magic. In this book they don't like to be called wizards or witches because they aren't thats not what they do. They are shadow hunters said to be descendants of angels and demons. What the shadow hunters do is fight the demons and try to protect the mundanes(humans) from there attacks on earth. In this book there have been numerous battles where Clary is trying to find her mother with the help of Jace. On there way to find clues they are meet with terrible battles that have broken there legs and arms. To find out more and how they survive read this book.

In the story I have found many types of imagery which is good because i am only in the beginning of the story. In this book imagery is an important part of this book in the 2 second chapter they use imagery to describe the Demon that is attacking Clary. "It was crouched against the floor , a long , scaled creature with a cluster of flat black eyes set dead center in the front of its domed skull. Something like a cross between an alligator and a centipede, it had a thick , flat snout and a barbed tail that whipped menacing from side to side. Multiple legs bunched underneath it as it readied it self to spring." this is a perfect example for me of imagery it tells us about how the Demon looked and how it readied it self to spring at Clary. This also uses figurative language the type it uses is a simile " Something like a cross between an alligator and a centipede"this uses the word like to describe how the body of the demon looks.

In another parts of the book there is imagery and figurative language another example would be. "He ducked, and it thunked heavily into the banister, biting deep." This is onomatopoeia and personification becasue it uses biting and its giving it to the axe. It also uses thunk to tell the sound it made. The second example of imagery is "Looming over him like a giant in a fairy tale was an enormous man, big around as an oak tree, a broad bladed axe clutched in one gigantic dead-white hand. Tattered filthy rags hung over his grimy skin, and his hair was a single matted tangle , thick with dirt." This type of imagery tells me about how the forsakens look (forsakens- people that grow to enormous sizes after they die).

Top Ten Of My Life

1. Fablehaven Series
The Fablehaven series is one of the best series I have ever read this is one of my favorite books because it showed me to adventure beyond the rules. To solve mysteries even it they seem impossible or unreal. It showed me basically that you can go beyond what is expected of you and even y your self you can make a bigger difference then a group of people. Lastly this book is just an amazing book that anybody can read.

2.Flat Stanley
This book is one of my favorites simple because it was the first chapter book I read. I don't remember much but the best part of the book was when he sent himself in the mail instead of going on an airplane. I remember sitting at the back of the class only five minutes in then class and I was finished with the book. It was the fastest book I ever read and one of the best.

3.City of Bones
I am reading city of bones right now but so far its one of the best books I have read. City of bones is about the Shadow-hunters the Shadow-hunters dedicate there lives to fighting demons. Some people say that Shadow hunters are decedents of angels and demons. The best part of the book so far is when they see the Forgottens which are like henchmen but dead. This is the best part because it was the first big fight in the book where they fight a big forgotten man will looking for clues and assets.

4.Harry Potter Series
The Harry Potter series was just one of the best series in my life. They did teach me many things but the main reason that I like this book is because it was just amazing. It showed me many different things some real some bad but the main thing it showed me was how to deal with people good or bad. Overall this book was just amazing it had everything a book could have.

5.Artemis Fowl Series

This series is listed on here not because it was the best but because it was the worst. I didn't get this series at all it was just bad. I have talked to many people and many of them say it was a really good series but for me it was just the worst I didn't like how most of everything about the book was technology and fantasy mashed up to create Artemis fowl. To me this book was kind of a horrible version of Spiderwick . It was just bad I think you should read it just to see if you like it but for me since the first page it was horrible. (I think I might give it another chance to)

6.Wonder

Wonder is one of the best books in the world it is a book of emotions. The first weeks of 7th grade we started to read this book as a class. The thing that interested me and my classmates the most is that the boy was different. Throughout the whole book we got clues of how he looked. We learned of how he lived how people judged him and the phases in life that he went through. It was just simple very interesting looking through the eyes of  someone different.

7.Magic Tree House Series

The Magic tree house series is just a series for little kids and to this day if I find one I haven't read I'll pick it up and start reading it. I believe everyone in america has read at least one or seen one of the magic tree house books. These books are just so world wide that everyone has seen one. I believe that even if you get older this series will always teach you something.

8.Rainbow Fish

Rainbow fish is a book that all the teachers would read at my elementary school. It would be a book to do projects on and to teach kids a life lesson. I can remember what we would do but my whole family has read it . Its just important because it has been in our family as the first book they would read in first grade.

9.The little engine that could
The little engine that could is a book that teaches a major life lesson. The life lesson that is shown in this book is to never give up. This book was read to us when I was really little and from then one we have never given up. The second lesson taught in this book is to ask for help. Many people think that asking for help is a sign of weakness but in this book it shows that its sometimes the only thing you could do.

10.I'll Teach My Dog 100 Words

I'll teach my dog 100 words is just a really entertaining book . This book is a book that our family read to our dog to try to teach him to speak. We probably read it 100 times but it never worked like we wanted to. Overall this was just an amazing book.
