Atticus is...
By: Gustavo Guzman

Atticus is a gentleman
He's a good boy,
A nigger lover
Deadest shot in Maycomb
know when to use a gun

Atticus is
A Mockingbird
It's a sin to kill a mockingbird

this is
real courage
Atticus is
real courage

courage is a man
It's when you know you're licked before you begin
but you begin anyway

this is
real courage
Atticus is
real courage

Atticus is
a mockingbird
and
It's a sin to kill a Mockingbird

  1. This found poem that I wrote is about Atticus as you already know. I put all of Atticus's great qualities but also some of the things he said. Atticus to me from what I learned in the book is he is courage. He is the symbol of the mockingbird. I noticed this once I started my poem, I started to notice that what the book was kind of trying to tell us was that Atticus is the mockingbird. That is why he didnt get hurt throughout the book.

  2. Gustavo, I really loved your poem! My favorite part, which I think was brilliantly worded was the fifth stanza where you said "this is courage" and then said that Atticus was courage, that was really interesting. I also really loved how you described Atticus as a mockingbird because in class we have only really talked about Boo and Tom as being mockingbirds. Great Job!
