Night: The Beginning

Night
By: Elie Wiesel
Week: 3/26/2015
Pages: 0-45
Prompt: List the Major events

The first major event of the book is when Wiesel and his family move to the ghetto. I listed this as one of my major events because it sets the stage for the rest of Wiesel's terrible journey. It tells us that the Nazi's have arrived in his town and that they are taking charge of the town. This is also a major point in the book because it is were Wiesel first learns about the Nazi's cruelty.

The second major event in the book is when they are transported and are in the beginning of entering Auschwitz. This is a major event because it talks about the struggles him and his father went through in Auschwitz. It is also a major event because Auschwitz is  the most notorious place during the holocaust. In Auschwitz Wiesel also meet Dr. Mengele who would have experimented on him if Wiesel wouldn't have been warned.

The Last major event so far is when he and his family are separated then shipped of to different camps. I think this is a major event mostly for Wiesel and his father because the separation of a family is heartbreaking. Many of the men there were crying because they left there families.

  1. The first thing I wanted to say is that you did a good job explaining specific details such as the setting, characters, and plot in Night. Which event do you think had the biggest impact effect on young Elie? I wonder if they are going to mention the experiments later in the book, possibly in Auschwitz. Does the picture show the author during his teenage years or after World War II? I just find it so surprising that during this time period especially in 1944 people were not informed about what was happening in the concentration camps. Great Blog Post.
