Why did Travis move from his old house?

I would ask this question because it seems like Travis really like his old house he had so many memories there. One memory is the memory of lossing his mom and dad. He was just in his house when his mother died in the hospital. Then a few months later his dad died while he was in the same house. It was his dads fault he died he was drunk driving and lost the steering wheel. Second memory was the loss of his second mom, dad, and a bit of brothers in the mix. His dog his dog Rosco was the best thing ever to him he comforted him and played with him because his grandpa was always drinking till one day he died. There are many more memories in the house but for some reason they moved. Tell me why they moved Pat Schmatz? May I call you Pat?

Why did you put Travis friends with Velveeta ?

I ask this question because Velveeta is so out going and travis is so quite. In my school people like that dont mix. The quite people are always left out hanging out with there own little group of friends. When I was younger there was always this kid that was so quite and I was the Velveeta. After a while he started talking to me and my group of friends. I was just wondering why you put them together? Pat after all I read I thought it was a good Idea but was it a personal experience.


Why is Travises Grandpa so lost in parenting?

What made you make Travises grandpa smoke, drink, and just a really bad parent in the beginning of the book. Did you ever have an experience liket Pat or was it just an idea. I liked how you made him become a better parent throughout the book. Overall your book was great Pat it was a little boring in the beginning but the more you read the better it got.

Prompt:Summarize what you just read.

What I have read throughout the book is different then many other books I have read. Every chapter starts out with Travis the main character starting of in his perspective. It easily switches of in the end of the chapter two a kind of like second main character Velveeta. She talks to a dead friend by writing in a diary. She knows he will never see it but she talks about her life in that diary. The scene in the book is his little town ,school, and where every travis decides to go.

Travis is an odd fellow he doesn't really talk much at his school. He has had a hard life his mother and father died. He had a dog named Roscoe that was like his parents and some brothers thrown in all together. He has never really had a friend besides his dog till Velveeta decided to talk to him at lunch. They have talked everyday at lunch for quite awhile now. Well Velveeta has done most of the talking. Travis's grandpa doesn't  really help either he is trying to help travis by not drinking any more for fifty days. Travise chooses to ignore it because he still isn't going to quit smoking.

Veelveeta is more out going then travis she wants to know things and when she doesn't she like to make up things. The second day at school she sat with travis for awhile . Till she came up with the idea that travis was an undercover cop that could only say 10 words a day. She knows Travis likes her so she always tries to take travis's desert. Velveeta has a diary where she talks to a dead friend connie. She knows he will never see it but she likes the fact that she can pretend hes there. Velveeta always hangs out in his abandoned trailer just thinking of when he was alive writing.

Over all this book is great. Kind of confusing but still good.

I just started this book and so far it has been very realistic. In the beginning it starts just like a normal school day its loud an then some people are just trying to open there lockers and Travis is one of them. Till a shoe is thrown from across the hall to the locker right next to him. Travis as most people might do he looked at it and checked the size next to his torn up shoes. Travis is different though as most of us would do we would carry on with are day but Travis is decided he didn't wont to be in school anymore
and walked out the front door and left. While he was walking he met up with his granpa and well it goes from there.



The picture is of the beginning of the second chapter the grandpa pulls up on him will he is walking because he new he would leave school like he use to do when he was younger. Instead of running travis decided to just talk with him and well he still didn't go to school that day he learned something. He cant  get scared or annoyed and just leave school because of that. His grandpa told him of what could go wrong and well he listened to him as he usually does

Max Murphy Mayan Archeologist

I’m in the jungle, terrified, hungry and I don't know where I’m going. I lost her and now I’m lost. I scream “Lola where are you” , I hear a faint sound that sounded like lola I follow the sound till I see her at the edge of a cave. It looks like a Jaguar with its mouth wide open waiting for someone to step in so it could swallow them up whole. “Where have you been Max Murphy” said lola “Lost again”. I hear footsteps and immediately know it’s Friar De Landa descended of Friar Diego De Landa
. “ Lets hurry inside Lola Now!” Once we were five feet in it got dark we walked till we came to a pool of water and in the center where jaguar drawings. It was kind of strange at first but then I noticed there where bones of people at the bottom of he water . Then I knew that the place I was in was a sacrifice temple for the jaguar kings. We walked in the dark and I started to think about so many things that are happening.

How did I get here this was suppose to be just a simple vacation. Me and my Family we were suppose to go to Italy this year but turn out they changed plans and now were in San Xavier, lost. My parents are lost near a temple with a scared jaguar stone that he wasn't suppose to have either way. That jaguar stone might easily get him killed. Why did my house keeper want me here did she just want to get ride of me or was it for something else. I now she doesn't like me but why would she want me to be here.   Now that I think of it I think the little mayan dudes told her or she thinks they told her to send me to San Xavier. I new she was crazy just not that crazy to believe in mayan myths is just crazy. Like my parents no wonder my parents and my house keeper get along so well. My parents are expert on everything Mayan and Zia is crazy about mayan myths. They both didn't want him to be with them either. My parents always change there plans because of the mayan excavations its like they dont even care about me as much as there mayan history.It's times like these that make me feel like I shouldn't be alive.

Since I’ve been in San Xavier I have found out that my uncle smuggles priceless artifacts like the jaguar stones. Which isn't really good to have it right now because since Friar De Landa descended of De Landa is prepared to kill for it. Since lola stole the jaguar stone then I’m in trouble to. Wow its crazy how much I accomplished  in a week. Soon to be ended in a minute with Friar De Landa capturing me and slicing my throat or just  shooting me. “ Jump” screamed lola. We made it out of the temple. After a few short turns ,cuts ,and bruises on the raft we made it.

What just happened? “ Lola what just happened” . “While you where staring at how far the jump down was I decided to start pumping the raft but while I was pumping it I scraped it on the side of the cave. Which made a loud echo but then I heard men and so I pumped harder I tried to get you to help me but you where in some sort of shock on how far we were going to jump. I finished putting air in the raft. Then Frair De Landa came and demanded the jaguar stone so I jumped and you jumped on the raft and of the cliff. Then the scary part comes they started shooting so I had to maneuver out of bullet range. Which I did so now where in a pool of water almost out of  the cave.”  “What do you mean almost”  “We have to let the current take use through this whole and we will be  done with this. Just hold on to the raft and count to ten.” said lola. “ Okay” I start counting 1, 2,3,4,5,6 but then I start running out of air and as I start going up for a breath I have life flash over my eyes and Zia’s tamales came up in my head. Then I reach the surface as I crashed through the surface of the water I felt happy finally. “We made it”


I thought more and more about what could happen next but I relaxed because we made it out. Turns out that we didn't and I feared that something was going to happen not sure if its bad or good I just know something was going to happen. “ We are stuck here the rope that I had to get out of the temple was cut.” said lola “ most likely by Frair De Landa. I decided to pass as look around the temple as I’m looking around I noticed that there’s a map on wall so I start tilting my head. While I tilt my head I notice that theres a spot that the jaguar stone can fit. I try and put it on and it works funny thing is that everything on the map started to change as I touched it I made it change to I told Lola and she figured out that what we do on the map happens in real life. I don't normally believe in the things the Mayans did but I see what I believe.

One object that is important is the sacred jaguar stones. These objects are really important thorough out the book. They are importnat because of the great story of Friar Diego De Landa of Spain. The story goes like this "One day a sea chest waiting on the dock bore the crest of  Friar Diego De Landa. Diego De Landa was the curse of the Maya. He tortured us, he burned are books, he told people we were savages. He took everything from us." That was the story of when Friar Diego De Landa went to San Xavier and to the Puerto Muerto now comes how he got the Jaguar stones. "Among the ill-gotten gains in Landa's sea chest  were 2 of a sacred jaguar stones" which De Landa had taken from are Mayan ancestors here in San Xavier. " De Landa set sail the the ship Espada on a perfect day to send the jaguar stones to spain but as the tale goes it never made it. The ship was lost some think it sank to the underworld because of the weight of the jaguar stones others think it sank to the bottom of the ocean. Who knows but with the jaguar stones gone San Xavier lost hope and its rained ever since."

The Jaguar stones 

The Jaguar stone are 5 ancient mayan stones shaped to look like jaguars. When there near you you get the feeling that your in the jungle. A warm breeze gets to you and it smells like jungle. They can come in 5 colors. When you look at the jaguar stone it looks like its snarling at you even in the primitive style of art its in. Its like the stone is alive it looks like it has so much energy and life.
